At Grant Thornton, our professional staff applies traditional, cutting-edge approaches and methods to a variety of analyses. As part of our team, the Senior Associate will utilize various methodologies and models to execute client projects.

Provide Tier 2 Help Desk support for a range of AR, billing and collections, disbursements, purchasing, and CC transactions and processes.
Use accounting and systems knowledge to provide front line or backup support for the day to day operations (ops) of key business processes.
Sustain functional support when key fed personnel are away from the office for short or long periods of time.
Assist with performing (ops tasks, analyses and research of key business processes such as AR, billing and collections, disbursements, purchasing, CC processing and IPAC.
Develop, document and present solutions to business processes needing functional and ops improvements such as narratives and spreadsheets in a very logical and conclusive manner.
Access extensive training and written documentation to enhance knowledge of key business processes.
Access sites of other fed authorities such as Treasury and OMB to enhance personnel knowledge as well as enhance the quality of service to the client.
Perform admin tasks required to support status reporting or time reporting.
Demonstrate initiative to diversify knowledge of numerous functional/technical processes in use by the client on a daily, monthly and annual basis.
Follow, develop or improve standard ops procedures used by colleagues to perform assigned functions for the client.
Working closely with other GT federal accounting SMEs as needed to identify solutions to one-off/ad-hoc issues.
Provide cross-team accounting and financial management related support with other accounting related project tasks.
Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).
Assist with business development activities, such as proposals, capture, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership materials.

Skilled/experienced accounting systems professional with fed accounting and fed accounting systems training and experience with broad range of exposure and functional knowledge of many key business cycles of federal agencies.
Possess knowledge of best practices at diff fed agencies and emerging accounting and financial systems tech.
Familiarity with OMB circulars, FAR, CAS, FASAB, SFAC, FTR, GTAS, CARS and Fed Appropriations law.
Min. 4 years of fed accounting experience including SGL, Treasury and OMB guidelines. Must have strong problem solving, critical thinking, communications and business process knowledge of AR, billing and collections, disbursements, purchasing, credit card (CC) processing, IPAC, Budgetary and Proprietary SGL’s, appropriation and reimbursable authority, financial reporting, requirements and design documents, month end and year end processing.
Exposure to relational databases, SQL, XML, flat files, data structures, interface processing, batch job processing and monitoring, change control and the software development lifecycle.
2-5 years of fed gov consulting and/or financial mgmt
BA in accounting or finance w/ minor in acctng
Ability to multitask & pay attention to detail while meeting short notice deadlines
Excellent customer service skills, verbal comms skills with an emphasis on results oriented products and solutions
Previous experience with system upgrades
Knowledge of diff versions of Momentum Financials in Fed Shared Services environments
Knowledge of SQL & relational databases
Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Ability to obtain and maintain certain job-related certifications if no job-related advanced degrees.
U.S. citizenship may be required. Ability to work in the United States indefinitely required.
Travel may be required.
Ability to work overtime required on occasion.
Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods of time.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
Ability to obtain and maintain firm independence and abide by firm ethics requirements.
Meet or exceed continuing professional education (CPE) requirements.
