This is a 163 day contract over 3 semesters position.

The successful candidate will prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities of the Veterinary Science courses at all levels to obtain, maintain, and coordinate clinical relationships and student placement.

This position reports to the Dean, School of Allied Health & Veterinary Science.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and teach courses which fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Prepare a course syllabus, which includes course requirements, attendance requirements, grading criteria.
  • Student advisement on academic issues, curriculum development, recruitment and retention efforts, committee work, and participation in efforts to market Gateway.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures and department guidelines.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE POSITION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technician
  • Valid Certificate to practice as a Certified Veterinary Technician issued by the state of Wisconsin (DATCP) or valid unrestricted license to practice as a Veterinarian issued by the state of Wisconsin (DATCP).
  • Five years (10,000 hours) of paid, documentable, occupational experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician or Veterinarian.
  • Included in the above experience, at least 2,000 hours of demonstrated relevant occupational experience must be within the last five years OR at least 2 years of full-time (8 semesters of part-time) post secondary teaching experience in the occupational field must be within the last five years.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Graduate of an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • VTS Certification in a recognized specialty area.
  • Teaching experience in an accredited, degree granting, post-secondary educational institution.
  • Other Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Working experience with computer software systems.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of related students.
  • Skilled in teaching a wide range of related subject.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem solving skills.


  • SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
    Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.
