POSITION OVERVIEW
We will train a bright, eager recent college graduate with the right attitude. To support recent growth, there are two new openings for the Junior Accountants. Qualified candidates get to perform financial analysis, payroll and complete other projects for management. You will use and apply accounting principles to process financial information for inventory, record keeping, closing processes, and other business transaction within the standards set for the organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, financial reporting and analysis and other special projects as assigned. The position will work under the administrative direction of the finance team and report directly to the Controller.

Located in Iowa City, IA 52240. Entry-level, Corporate/Executive Suite.

SCHEDULE
This is a full-time entry-level position, working closely with the executives of MCI brands.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Our entry-level Junior Accountants are responsible for the following tasks:

Day-to-day general ledger accounting and reconciliation, financial reporting and analysis for assigned functional areas.
Maintains and balances subsidiary ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analysis.
Prepare financial reports, charts, tables and other exhibits as requested
Partner with supervisor and site leadership in site budget preparation.
Work closely with site leadership.
Investigate and report to the manager any inconsistencies or improprieties.
Analyze data to ensure proper accounting procedures have been followed.
Provide timely, relevant and accurate reporting & analysis of the results of the sites' performance against historical, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans results to facilitate decision-making toward the achievement of the budget and strategic plan.
Financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis.
Review general ledger coding of AP transactions, expense reports, purchasing card recs, etc. related to sites.
Demonstrate appropriate understanding / working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls, and apply them.
This role is also responsible for performing special projects to improve process efficiency and performance Projects as assigned by Management and other special projects as requested.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Two year degree or equivalent work experience
Recent College Graduate with strong interest in learning about the Financial aspects of a Busines
Knowledge of accounting software and strong MS Office skills.
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact within all levels of the organization
Demonstrates ability to successfully plan, organize and manage projects
Detail-oriented, excellent proofreading and editing skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, organized, able to prioritize and work independently
Experience building successful working relationships with C-level executives
Prior knowledge and experience of QuickBooks and ADP a plus
Exceptionally self-motivated and directed
Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
