This position reports directly to the Manager/Sr Manager, Application Development and has no direct reports. However, this position will provide leadership and guidance to IT developers assigned to provide technical assistance and support. Also, this position will coordinate and plan activities between business areas and IT, and provide functional assistance to related projects, business cases and requests for enhancements. This position will handle project requests for new software products, support services, and assists business areas with documenting their requirements and project requests.
Analyzes business needs and proposes long term strategic integrated cost effective solutions working with various business areas. Formulates business needs into formal business case. Acts as primary business analyst, works the project through to execution and assists during QA phases (Test Script and UAT) of the project.
Conducts regular meetings to ensure the business areas, IT and the Executive team are on the same page. Provides constant process and methodology improvement formulation and cross team mentoring. Ensures consistency on formulation of solutions and how we approach various business areas.
Oversees definition of critical business requirements, rules, and issues to be solved and identifies specific and quantifiable cost benefits the project will achieve.
Implements and communicates the departments’ common methodologies to streamline processes, procedures, standards, policies and guidelines impacting multiple functions and evaluates effectiveness. Develops strategies to develop and communicate improvement plans.
Create and deliver critical business and data information, make presentations and provide training to executive groups and user groups within the functional business areas.
Provides relationship management acting as the main liaison for the collaboration that must occur between IT and functional business areas.
Provides consultative support on business systems initiatives within and across the functional business areas to ensure minimal overlap between IT and functional business area activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science and related fields or equivalent related technical field experience.
Project Management skills (e.g. Six Sigma, PMP, Prince2)
Proven experience in as many of the following as possible:
Reporting (e.g. Crystal Reports, Business Objects)
Programming skills (e.g. Java)
Databases (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle)
DMS Systems (e.g. Smartsolve, Documentum)
Quality System (e.g. Trackwise)
LMS Systems (e.g. Plateau)
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Good presentation and persuasion skills.
Strong consultative, analytical, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
Ability to analyze multiple proposed initiatives or solutions simultaneously.
Ability to research application solutions and analyze data to provide recommendations.
Organized, ability to meet established schedules and deadlines through strong time and stress management skills.
Ability to interface with all personnel and to relate system capabilities to business issues. Excellent relationship management skills. Can work effectively as a member of a team of peers.
