Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for security of parish grounds, contact Pastor and local police department when needed as result of damage or vandalism to grounds. Monitors and manages Parish and School FOB users.
2. Oversees and performs maintenance service and repairs in plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, or electrical.
3. Assigns and managers daily duties for maintenance personnel and/or volunteers when appropriate.
4. Primarily responsible for performing on-site routine services including installation, maintenance, and repair aided by maintenance personnel and/or volunteers when appropriate.
5. Inform Director of Operations of all required upgrades to grounds, equipment, etc. and on purchasing of items in advance.
6. Schedule and notify maintenance personnel for snow removal as needed.
7. Precures bids from outside contractors entailing HVAC, electrical, and other capital improvement projects for presentation to Finance Council. Assures the Archdiocese of Chicago construction policy and procedures are followed when needed.
8. Precures contractors' bids for parish and school maintenance including landscaping, snow removal, waste hauling/removal, annual sealcoat/striping, annual roof inspections/ maintenance, HVAC, elevators, fire alarm and security.
9. Assures the optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, fire/life safety, etc. by performing preventative inspections looking for potential problems and notifying supervisor(s).
10. Attend Renovation Committee and Facilities Committee meetings, weekly staff meetings and Finance Council Meetings as needed.
11. Ensure parish machinery is well maintained and that maintenance procedures are followed.
12. Prepares a maintenance budget to be submitted to the Finance Council, including regular supplies, renewable contracts, necessary repairs, preventative maintenance, and supplies.
13. Oversees larger projects and occasionally covers for the housekeeper/maintenance employees when that person is on vacation and as needed.
14. May be given various other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties of position. On call for building emergencies
Requirements and Preferences:
- High school graduate, GED or Equivalent Formal training in HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing.
- Minimum 5 years experience or equivalent combination of formal education and related work experience Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures of facilities and grounds management.
- Basic Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, or electrical.
- Trade certifications Lift, push/pull 50lbs. Climb ladders and stairs as necessary.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Availability to work before/after scheduled hours as needed.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Successful candidates will be required to comply with the Archdiocese of Chicago's background check and with Safe Environment Guidelines from the Office of the Protection of Children and Youth.
Requirements:
- Assures the optimal functioning of the St. John of the Cross-building systems, including mechanical, fire/life safety, etc.
- Supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff.
- Familiar with HVAC Heating systems, roofing, plumbing, electrical, and other various aspects of a large building.
- Oversees facilities contracts, including landscaping and snow removal.
- This role manages the maintenance team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
