Full Job Description
Coordinates, analyzes, and reports financial performance to management. Prepares monthly statements, bank reconciliations, analyzes significant fluctuations and resolves discrepancies. Prepares operating budget in cooperation with management and department heads and monitors results. Oversees audit and tax functions, coordinating activities with audit firm. Supervises payroll and accounts payable processes and acts as back up. Prepares Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross cost reports for maximum reimbursement and oversees associated audits. Prepares required reporting including those associated with reimbursement and payroll. Maintains hospital statistical data. Develops, implements and maintains accounting policies and procedures. Other projects as assigned.
Financial Statements - Prepare monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, analyze significant fluctuations in account balances, reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Budget - Assist in preparing and assembling the institution’s operating budget in cooperation with management and department heads.
Accounts Payable - Supervises and evaluates accounts payable specialist and acts as backup when needed. Coordinate accounts payable function with vendors, purchasing department and department managers.
Reporting - Prepare and file quarterly 941 and MESC report. Prepare W-2 and 1099 forms and file appropriate documentation with state and federal agencies. Accumulate statistical data for internal and external reporting. Prepare Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross Cost Reports as well as coordinate the audit associated with each report.
Payroll - Supervises and evaluates payroll specialist and acts as backup when needed. Coordinate payroll function with human resource department, department managers, administration and employees. Assure compliance with policies and union contract.
Audit – Prepare schedules and provide documentation to support the year end balances in the general ledger accounts. Work with external auditing firm to complete annual audit of hospital and foundation financial statements and Hospital 990.
Other Projects as Assigned – Completes other projects as assigned by the CFO and CEO in a timely accurate, professional manor.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA strongly preferred. At least 5 years of accounting experience required, preferably in healthcare. At least 3 years of a managerial or supervisory role required. Experience with software builds helpful.
