ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Lab plays a vital role in the development and certification of SES Networks’ ground infrastructure. As our Engineer, RF Systems you will be responsible for efficiently leading and organizing the performance testing, verification, and integration of ground systems, satellite terminals, M&C software systems, and IP networks through hardware/software configurations, test automation, and system/sub-system level performance validation testing in a controlled Lab environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
Develop test plans, methodologies and conduct investigations and validation testing involving SES Networks’ MEO satellite links, modems, satellite RF ground equipment, M&C systems, telecommunications protocols, WAN/LAN technologies, and application layer performance
Support R&D efforts involving new and modified implementations, equipment, and system-wide enhancements required to support existing and new SES Networks products and services
Participate in and lead the review of projects, design and technology requirements to ensure clarity and testability in the Lab
Assist the Lab manager with scheduling and prioritizing projects to ensure timely delivery
Communicate updates to management by keeping project tracker systems up to date and preparing reports
Assist Lab team members with broad or recurring technical issues and provide them with technical training and guidance
Design, implement, operate and provide on-going maintenance for SES Network’s satellite ground system Test Laboratory which include a diverse collection of modems, IF & RF equipment, radio & telecommunications traffic generators and link simulators, and computer & networking hardware and software
Supports system and test cases automation, troubleshooting and anomaly investigations
Accountable for procedure-based tools to support efficient operations and system sustainment
Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English
Effective communication and presentations skills in working with both technical and non-technical support staff

Ability to work independently and guide less senior engineers with resolving technical challenges
Ability to provide accurate information to vendors and other colleagues, in a timely manner
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, with well-developed organizational skills

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with 5-8 years of relevant experience
At least 3 years of experience in developing and supporting satellite terminal systems or satellite-based networking & data systems
At least 3 years of experience as an integration and development Team Member deploying Satellite Ground Systems telecommunications equipment or related systems
At least 3 years of experience troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining local and remote IF / RF (such as modems, BUC/BDC, LNA, LNB, matrix RF switches, ACU/CCU, AIU), antennas, and WAN/LAN equipment
Experience working in a product validation Lab environment is highly desired
Experience with L2-7 traffic generation. Experience with Juniper networking devices a plus.
Strong knowledge of Telecommunications Satellite Ground Systems including Gateways, Teleports, Network & Satellite Operation facilities and related technologies
Software scripting tool development background preferred (PERL, Python, Shell, C, C++ and Java)
Knowledge of internet-based network connectivity principles and implementation
Familiar with agile testing process
Understands data and RF network testing concepts – e.g. RFC2544 testing
Working experience with test equipment and platforms (RT Logic Link Simulators, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzer, etc).
Working experience with Linux OS and VM infrastructure
Experience with Spirent iTest/Velocity, Test Center platforms is highly desired.
