Since 1948, Kepner Products Company has specialized in the design and manufacture of industrial valve products, serving the critical flow control needs for a wide range of markets. We are seeking a CNC Machinist to join our team:
Operator for Okuma Machines and Okuma Lathes.
Operates to close and exact tolerances according to work order and blueprint specification in the production of aluminum, brass, steel, and stainless-steel valve components. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments, algebra, geometric, and trigonometry calculations, along with the use of decimals, fractions, and metrics are necessary. Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery. Perform inspections of the work area and machines at the beginning and end of each shift. Requires minimal supervision or guidance Refers any difficulties to the Lead Person or Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Able to operate a variety of CNC equipment including Okuma Machines and Okuma Lathes.
- Perform essential duties and responsibilities of a CNC operator.
- Pull all required gauges from the Q.C. area (QC will assist if necessary)
- Edit the program on the computer panel to remove any potential for disaster.
- Maintaining the machine setup by changing inserts and making minor offset adjustments. Refers any difficulties to the CNC Lead Person or Supervisor.
- Is responsible for maintaining part quality to tolerances of +/- .0005 inches, able to recognize quality issues, and able to use inspection tools/gauges.
- Take 1st good part to Q.C. for 1st piece inspection.
- If a part does not pass 1st piece inspection, either correct the part per print or Q.C. recommendation or machine a new part for 1st piece inspection.
- Load blanks and unload machined components and monitors for continued consistency and accuracy.
- Train less experienced machinists.
- Awareness of IMS objectives, IMS policy, relevant IMS documentation, and consequences of nonconformance
- Awareness of their contribution to product conformity, safety, and ethical behavior.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school degree or equivalent.
- 5plus years of CNC operating.
- Okuma Machine and Okuma Lathes experience required.
- Able to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
- Able to recognize quality issues and use inspection tools/gauges.
- Use shop math (algebra, geometric, and trigonometry calculations, along with the use of decimals, fractions, and metrics) to read and understand blueprints.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to stand and sit for periods of time.
- Other physical demands include reaching, turning, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work in an environment with exposure to noise and vibration.
