The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the College and assures alignment across the UnityPoint Health System. The President shall provide executive leadership that advances the mission, vision and values of St. Luke’s College. The President of the College shall have the necessary authority and be held responsible for the administration of the College in all of its activities and departments, subject to such policies as may be adopted and such orders as may be issued by the College Board, or any of its committees to which the College Board has specifically delegated power for such action. The President of the College shall act as the duly authorized representative of the College Board in all matters in which the College Board has not formally designated some other person for that specific purpose. The President concurrently reports to the SLC Board of Directors and the CEO of UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s.
The President has primary responsibility for implementation of growth strategies to include oversight and execution of accreditation, educational policy, programmatic and administrative budgets, and enrollment, of the St. Luke’s College. The President ensures quality and excellence in all areas of the College and represents the needs of faculty and students in coordination with appropriate stakeholders of the College. In coordination with the College Executive Team, the President is responsible for oversight and leadership of St. Luke’s College growth strategies and operations.
The President of the College shall be responsible to the College Board for the proper performance of duties, which performance shall be reviewed at least annually by the Executive Committee of the College Board in coordination and consultation with the UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s CEO.
AUTHORITY AND DUTIES
To act as the Chief Executive Officer of the College;
To be responsible for carrying out all policies established by the College Board;
To develop and report to the College Board for approval of management organization structure for the conduct of the College’s operation and to recommend changes in that plan as necessary;
To prepare and administer an annual operating budget;
To prepare, with the advice and assistance of the College Board, a long-range plan for the College and a capital budget;
To select, manage, and discharge the College’s employees;
To develop and maintain personnel policies for the College;
To see that all physical properties are kept in a state of good repair and operating condition;
To supervise all business affairs and to ensure that all funds are collected and expended to the best possible advantage;
To advance College Fundraising and Development activities and resource management;
To submit regular reports to the College Board or its authorized committees showing the professional service and financial activities of the College and to prepare and submit such special reports as may be required by the College Board;
The President of the College or designee shall attend all meetings of the College Board and of its committees; only the President of the College shall have voting privileges as may be provided herein;
To recommend persons to be presented with earned and honorary degrees;
To demonstrate the UnityPoint Health FOCUS Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adhere to policies, procedures and guidelines;
To serve as the liaison officer and channel for all official communications and reports between the College Board and UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s administration.
To perform any other duties that may be necessary in the best interest of the College or that may be imposed by the UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s.
An earned graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution. A doctoral degree preferred.
A minimum of five years of leadership experience in a health care or higher education setting.
Excellent communication, both written and oral, needed to represent the College effectively before multiple audiences.
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle large volumes of work with accuracy and attention to detail, manage multiple priorities and to function effectively with interruptions.
Commitment to the mission and goals of the College and to UnityPoint Health core FOCUS Values and Standards of Behavior as well as adherence to policies, procedures and guidelines.
Must be able to effectively work within the daily mental and physical stresses of the job.
A doctoral degree preferred.
Experience with institutional and programmatic accreditation.
Teaching experience in higher education.
Demonstrated successful fundraising.
