We are searching for an experienced Director of Engineering at our Corporate facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects for the Fort Dearborn Company. Oversees maintenance activities to ensure job safety adherence, environmental compliance, and high-quality work performance is maintained. Deploys and measures Maintenance and Reliability framework with focus on CMMS implementation, PFMEA, RPN and TPM concepts. Manages the implementation of major repairs and upgrades. Tracks maintenance performance, quality of work, productivity, and efficiency. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives. Utilizes best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. Manages overall engineering budget and costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Measure reliability of all plants in terms of Operating Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
Establish MTBF (mean time between failures) targeted at groups of poorly performing machine populations
Assure proper lubrication plan for all plants
Apply Vibration analysis measurements to detect abnormal conditions
Apply infrared thermography (IR) and oil analysis techniques to optimize hydraulic system and gear reducer life expectancy.
Drive RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) training and deployment.
Apply RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) to identify failures before the failure happens.
Deploys Precision Maintenance Practices, thus understanding that the quality of technicians work and addresses hidden cost of poor repair practices.
Develop predictive technologies and technicians by implementing CMMS best practices
Organize and manage capital projects, creating detailed plans that conform with established PMP protocols.
Examine technology to meet the demands of the market and operational improvement.
Manage the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment
Supervises the development and maintenance of staff abilities and suitability in the organization
Prepare the company's capital budget and track savings and spend to budget.
Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the organization
Perform administrative functions such as evaluating and writing reports, approving expenditures concerning projects.
Overall responsibility for talent development and succession planning within functional area
Drives best practice sharing globally
Minimum Qualifications - Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or industrial engineering
Eight+ years of experience in M&R implementation and TPM
Significant experience complex Lean principals as they apply to manufacturing engineering
Excellent communication skills at executive, middle management and shop floor level.
Critical thinking: and reasoning skills to be able to identify weaknesses and strengths of alternative solutions or approaches to problems
Excellent organizational skill to perform their duties.
Ability to influence others in a matrix style organization.
