We are currently seeking an Aggregates General Manager in Huntsville, AL for our Alabama Aggregate operations reporting directly to the Vice President. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead safety, quality, and productivity throughout our existing operations and additional operations through growth.
Duties include but not limited to
- Working directly with the Vice President to manage the day-to-day business activity for surface limestone quarries and resale yards.
- Full P&L responsibility for the aggregate operations
- Manage several direct reports including aggregate production manager, controller, quality control, equipment manager, and sales manager.
- Responsible for the overall CAPEX planning each year for the aggregate operations.
- Creates and maintains a culture where safety is the number one priority at all locations.
- Maintain internal relationships with accounting, sales personnel, quality personnel, safety, environmental staff and, managers of other operating units in asphalt and construction.
- Prepares and implements mine plans at all locations to maximize reserve life and minimize overall production cost.
- Work with corporate aggregate operations department on plant upgrades and special projects.
- Familiarity with opening new locations (greenfield) and development of existing operations
- Strong cost controls and lien manufacturing practices
- Growth mindset working with Vice President to execute on growth strategy.
- Lead the annual strategic planning for aggregate operations focused on top line growth as well as operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Prior P&L responsibility including capital planning and justification.
- Ability to communicate and work with senior management to achieve the necessary goals set for the operations.
- Proven safety record and excellent compliance in MSHA safety standards.
- High energy individual with a desire for excellence both personally and within working teams.
- A Bachelors’ degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or related field.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing operations and/or engineering as well as significant experience in aggregate processing procedures and surface quarrying.
- Strategic thinker with growth in mind as well as an eye for the details.
- Working knowledge of AggQC and AggFlow is a plus.
- Excellent MS office skills with focus on excel, outlook.
- Strong time management skills and an individual who enjoys leading others and being involved.
- Strength in growing others for advancement to allow for upward mobility.
