Position description
The Ninth Judicial Circuit will have an opening for a full time Child Support Hearing Officer beginning September 3, 2019. This position will have regular assignments for both Orange and Osceola counties. The hearing officer will conduct hearings and make determinations on child support matters referred by family court judges. The hearing officer is responsible for setting referred cases for hearing or trial, conducting hearings and non-jury trials, making determinations on cases, and preparing reports and recommendations with accompanying orders for the referring judge’s signature. The position works under the general supervision of the Chief Judge or designee.
The position requires knowledge of legal principles, statutory and case law, court rules and procedures, as well as, the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and concisely, both verbally and in writing. The position requires the successful candidate to conduct hearings in a fair and impartial manner while keeping the proceedings orderly and within set time limits. Must have the ability to work with litigants who are in stressful situations.

Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and must be a member in good standing in The Florida Bar for at least five years immediately preceding employment. Applicant must have a minimum five years practice experience, preferably in family law. Applicant must be proficient in Word. This position is funded by the Florida State Courts System with full benefit package and salary $6,697.44/month ($80,369.32 annual).
