The Advanced Solutions Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Dash 8 Aviation Safety Official to work in our Manassas, Virginia office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Army’s Airborne Reconnaissance Low Enhanced mission. In this mission we will integrate, demonstrate, and deliver multiple Dash 8 ARL-E systems.

As the Flight Safety Officer you will administer the program’s Safety Management System (SMS) as well as act as a Dash 8 Pilot-in-Command. Main responsibilities of the position are as following:

Responsible for maintaining the Safety Management System (SMS) program meeting and exceeding the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) AS 9110 rev. D and the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) 2017 standard.
Responsible for general safety policies and objectives as outlined by FAR Part 91and DOD/DCMA 8210.1C flight operations for Leidos and oversight of sub-contractors.
Responsible for representing Leidos and the ARL-E program during audits.
Responsible for obtaining and maintaining audit ratings and database collection.
Maintain and provide innovative solutions to collecting, tracking and reporting on safety related trends
Maintain the program’s Mishap Response Plan
Establish and maintain a formal method of safety communication
Perform duties as a Dash 8 Pilot-in-Command
Assist the Chief Pilot and Lead Pilot in promoting, training, assessment, and development of strong and applicable Standard Operating Procedures
Review and enhance current ground training curricula for all aircraft models and mission equipment
Develop additional training curricula to meet emerging mission equipment and applications

Qualifications:Basic Qualifications:
BS degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Knowledge and experience of project management and knowledge of process and performance management and improvement
Active Secret clearance; be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Top Secret Security Clearance
Must be a US Citizen and possess a valid US passport
Must possess a current FAA Class II Medical Certificate as well as a current FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transportation Pilot Airplane Certificate
Must have at least 500 PIC hours in any aircraft
Must have at least 300 PIC hours in any pressurized large fixed wing aircraft with retractable landing gear
Must have strong interpersonal skills and be customer oriented as well as have the ability to operate independently
Proficient in the use of a personal computer and in the use of Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications

FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate

Dash 8 300 Series Type Rating

1,000 PIC hours in any aircraft

5 years Safety Management System experience with DoD, ICAO, and FAA background

Radio Telephone Operators Permit
