SUMMARY

Leads the activities of manufacturing, distribution, planning, materials and engineering operations for all plant locations. Aids executive staff in formulating and administering policies and programs which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation. Responsible for achieving optimum labor, overhead and material costs by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Directs and coordinates activities of manufacturing, distribution/warehousing, planning, materials, maintenance and engineering departments to maintain and continually improve safe, high quality and efficient operations.

Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.

Responsible for operations’ production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitability of operation.

Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap. Embraces and leads a continuous improvement culture that engages employees and a team environment.

Develops, monitors and reports on operating costs within functional areas. Makes recommendations and implements solutions to problems related to same.

Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters affecting performance, behaviors and results.

Leads departmental managers on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, issues resolution and the like. Ensures managers are adhering to company policies and administering practices in a fair and equitable manner.

Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff, taking corrective action as necessary on a timely basis in accordance with company policies. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations, consulting with Human Resources as appropriate.

Coordinates, with all departments, the process of commercialization of new products.

Prepares and recommends budgets to management.

Serves as member of management committees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – Responsible for department leaders in Manufacturing, Planning, Scheduling, Purchasing, Warehousing, Maintenance and Engineering.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE – BA/BS degree in industrial, mechanical engineering or business administration with extensive hands-on operations management experience in manufacturing, preferably in a dynamic, quick change environment. Critical competencies include manufacturing operational excellence, change management, continuous improvement leadership, team-building and employee relations. Excellent organizational and communications skills required. Computer proficiency with standard IT interfaces (MS Office) and ERP systems. Experience working with manufacturing-based technology, processes and principles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Fluent in the English language.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS – Affiliation with food industry associations a plus.

Salary: $138,865.00 to $208,297.00 /year
