Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with almost 4000 lawyers and staff in 30 offices is seeking a Legal Secretary for the Intellectual Property Group. This position will reside in the Philadelphia, PA office. The qualified candidate will provide secretarial/administrative support to attorneys with a focus on patent prosecution.
Provide administrative and patent prosecution (US and Foreign) support to partners, associates and paralegals.
Proactively manage daily patent prosecution dockets, ensuring all deadlines are met and communicate same to the docketing team.
Prepare routine patent correspondence, reports and responses for filing; not limited to reporting communications to clients.
Knowledge of EFS filings with USPTO.
Maintain patent prosecution files.
Provide backup support to other team members in the IP Group.
Perform other relevant duties in the practice area as directed.
Manage emails, maintain calendars and scheduling meetings.
Assist with time entry, schedule and manage travel arrangements and expense forms.
Assist with opening of new matters; prepare conflict checks, engagement letters and new business intake.
Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of five years of legal secretarial experience in patent prosecution, preferably at a law firm or similar environment.
Minimum high school diploma required.
Knowledge, experience, and understanding of patent procedures and electronic filing procedures of the United States Patent & Trademark office.
Experience with PAIR and EFS-Web filing; CPI (patent docketing software), EPAS, Patent Fetcher and navigating websites such as EPO and WIPO.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Word skills.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are a must.
Must be able to prioritize and produce a high-quality work product to meet deadlines and perform job responsibilities under pressure efficiently, productively and in a professional manner.
The ability to manage highly sensitive information is required, as are excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work overtime is required.
