Provide Industrial and/or Retail Design expertise and leadership as follows:
Collaborate to develop new concepts for service, equipment, retail fixtures, communications, etc.
Partner with seating/décor suppliers, equipment suppliers, and fabricators on new solutions
Frame design programs, including drafting and circulating design requirements and briefs
Development and documentation of designs as necessary
Support System Design projects as follows:
Frame findings both conceptually and visually for use by cross-functional teams
Collaborate with operations, marketing, I/T, and other design colleagues to develop new concepts
Prototype systems and system elements by appropriate means (2D, 3D, enactment, animation, etc.)
Produce final system documentation and visualization
Develop, communicate and advocate for Design Standards as follows:
Develop design principles, guidelines, and standards
Support teams seeking help with design standards interpretation, and enforcement
Work with external global design firms on the execution of design concepts with input on design development, design adjustments, and piloting in actual restaurant locations.
Train our construction, manufacturing, and design partners on the accurate execution, and design release for larger scale deployments.
Influence key partners for the successful implementation of design concepts.
Ability to translate research insights into solution concepts
Potential to explore broad, undefined problem areas and articulating points-of-view about what really matters
Effective and persuasive communication of ideas and designs
Passion and talent for inter-disciplinary collaboration
Experience in human-centered design, using research insights as the starting point
Expansive view of design (product, service, environment, and communication)
Industrial and/or retail design portfolio, including designs in market
Strong prototyping skills
Design research and strategy training ideal
Experience in working in cross-functional, multi-design-disciplinary teams on integrated design projects
Experience with project management
Experience in developing powerful ways to visualize and simulate design and experiences
Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
5+ years previous experience working in a design firm or department within retail or industrial design.
Excellent communication and influential ability.
