Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is currently seeking Registered Nurses (RN) for the Montford Psychiatric Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Shifts are 12 hours, 6-6, with both AM and PM available. Schedules rotate working 4 on, 4 off. Shift differentials are paid for all night and weekend shifts.

TTUHSC Managed Care has a partnership with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to provide all medical healthcare, behavioral healthcare, dental, vision, and pharmacy services to inmates in the Northern and Western Regions of the State of Texas. The Montford Psychiatric Hospital has the capacity to house up to 550 inpatient psychiatric inmate. The unit consists of 10 pods, including: Crisis Management, Diagnostic and Evaluation, Acute Care/ Rapid Stabilization, Partial Remission, Chronic Care, Mood Disorder, Neurocognitive Disorder and Impulse, Self-Injurious Behavior.
Job Summary
Employees in this classification are responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities in an assigned correctional facility. They function within their legal scope of practice and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization and practice setting. Work is performed under the direction of a registered nurse as part of a total correctional managed health care team in providing safe and competent care to patients.
Daily Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Vitals signs
- Physical assessments
- Medical administration
- BLS/CPR
- Electronic Health Record documentation
- Patient education
- Wound care
- Suturing
Required Qualificatons
- License/Certification: Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
- Current CPR certification.
- Education: Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.
- Experience: None
