POSITION SUMMARY:
Assures patient meals are served to meet department standards, lining up menus at each meal period, checking the trayline for accuracy of service, calculate quantities for tube feedings and fluid restrictions, writes nourishment, completes production sheets, updates and maintains patient information in Meditech and other records. Answers telephone, assists the dietitians with clinical functions as needed, i.e. visitations and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Check menus for accuracy ensuring appropriate diet and modifications.

Checks the trayline to ensure trays are correctly prepared according to diet and individual selections and served in an attractive and appealing manner.

Processes diet orders, messages, and floor stocks requests and generates appropriate charges via Meditech.

Inputs nourishments in Meditech and checks for accuracy.

Prepares tube-feeding requests as ordered.

Supervises kitchen activities in absence of managers, ensures policies, procedures and high standards of patient care are upheld.

Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
PREFERRED
- High school education or equivalent. Registered Diet Technician.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
REQUIRED
- Current Food Handlers Card.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
PREFERRED
- Formal or on the job training in nutrition diet therapy, sanitation and supervision.
- Minimum of one year experience in hospital food service environment and/or equivalent.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of basic and therapeutic nutrition, sanitation, supervision and diet office/diet technician procedures.

Ability to effectively manage multiple functions at a time with accuracy.

Judgement to determine appropriate action when confronted with unique situations or subordinate performance problems.

Ability to communicate effectively in English in a verbal and written manner.

Bilingual communication in Spanish and English.
