PRIMARY FUNCTION: Works with stakeholders, leadership and department personnel to validate information and facilitate analysis of data in order to support operational and strategic decision making for the TJUH Division of Nursing. Provides financial leadership, direction and development of financial initiatives within the nursing service lines to improve/enhance hospital services.
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
Develops and prepares the operational and capital budgets and other related Financial reporting for the Nursing Division.
Develops, prepares, analyzes and distributes annual budgets including input of the operating budgets into the Hyperion Financial System and capital budgets into the Kaufman Hall Axion system. Update final system adjustments as necessary/required by hospital financial administration
Prepares, reviews and distributes monthly financial reports to executive, nursing, financial accounting and other hospital leadership and stakeholders.
Creates, reviews and evaluates reports using the Hyperion Financial, Axiom Capital and Truven Action OI/FTI Productivity Systems.
Assists in the purchasing, approval and payment of expense related items using the Ascent, American Express, Concur and Commercial Purchasing Systems.
Responsible for the completion of various financial, payroll, statistical and ad-hoc reports, including Nursing Magnet Designation requests to support the Nursing Division.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES needed in addition to Essential Functions:
Prepares, analyze and distribute annual Nursing Dashboards used by nursing leadership to develop staffing levels within the WorkForce Scheduling System.
Prepare and submit to hospital financial administration and human resources all required bi-weekly workforce data.
Prepare monthly and quarterly productivity statistics for input
Monitor and report on the productivity template performance of the Nursing units – report results to Nursing Administrator so operations can adjust accordingly.
Analyze and review Hyperion productivity reports for the division of nursing, as distributed to nursing leadership by hospital financial administration.
Track Purchase Orders against Invoices and Match Audits to determine the monthly accruals for each Nursing, Perioperative and Emergency Cost Center. Report accruals before the close of the books at each month’s end.
Develop, prepare and distributes monthly financial reports for the division of nursing.
Responsible for processing of charges and preparation of invoices for the Cast Room.
Prepare, analyze and submit requested Magnet data for inclusion in the annual and tri-annual Magnet Survey documents and forms.
Prepare monthly NDNQI direct care hours report for submission
Assist in the purchasing and approval of requested equipment, supplies, travel, seminar and education approved in the division of nursing.
Assist preparation of payroll reports as needed to reflect Nursing Service Labor utilization.
Compile data from various databases, develop appropriate spreadsheets/reports, perform statistical and financial analyses and provide timely findings to the Nursing Services Division Management Team.
Assist in reporting annual Trauma reporting and supporting documentation – assist the Trauma Director and Trauma unit VP to complete report by end of calendar year.
Maintain open lines of communication with hospital operational areas to obtain timely and accurate information necessary for day to day nursing operations.
Completion and submission of surveys as requested
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelors - Accounting/Finance required-
Masters in Business Administration preferred.
5 years of experience in a similar financial/management role in a hospital or healthcare organization required.
Proven experience with Healthcare Information Systems such as Hyperion, Material Management Information Systems such as Ascent, Human Resource Information Systems such as PeopleSoft, Benchmarking such as Action O-I, Time/Attendance Systems such as MyTime. Experience in Nursing Services a plus.
