Job Description
As a Materials Planner, you will have the opportunity to provide suppliers with accurate scheduled orders and forecast requirements to meet production requirements. To coordinate the delivery of materials from suppliers to Manufacturing Plant. To control and reduce inventory levels and identify new areas of inventory reduction. Manage the supply base performance to make overall improvements in the Supply Chain including the deployment of processes such as Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventory, Domestic Warehouses and consignment as well as improving the overall effectiveness of Supply Chain flow. This is not a remote position, position will be in office located in Sulligent, Alabama.
Key Accountabilities:
- Parts Availability
- On time supplier shipment measured by on time ASN
- Kanban/DFT – effective management of supplier Kanban/VMI
- Supplier Analysis- review weekly planning metrics, monitor overall performance of suppliers, analyze trends, and report issues on a daily/weekly basis.
- ECN’s – smooth introduction of changes with no interruption of production flow.
- Shortages – daily update of all shortage information to Plant personnel utilizing critical parts database.
- Production Meeting – Support meeting with info as required.
- Inventory Management/Control and Reduction
- Early shipment Notification – Review and monitor early shipments – issue weekly
- Inventory Reduction – Seek means of reducing inventory
- Goods in Transit – review outstanding invoices for payment and support clearing
- Maintain accuracy of open orders
- Rejects – Acts as a Liaison (Utilizing QA reject criteria) to expedite certified replacement stock to maintain production.
- Regular review and maintenance of safety stock levels.
- Review and disposal of excess and obsolete material
- Action move out and cancel purchase order messages to meet department target weekly
- Provide corrective actions for receiving discrepancies
- Managing Suppliers
- Exception Messages – Review weekly
- Orders and Shipping schedules – release on a weekly basis
- Follow-up Report – use and review reporting all potential shortages to production through Critical Part Shortage Database
- Expedite by Exception – react to problems, rejects, fluctuation in PAP
- Special Contracts – react to short lead customer demands utilizing risk analysis process
- SPED Parts – effective control by individual planners for repeat SPED
- Manage combined orders for Supplier
- Review missing / delayed ASN’s and Acknowledgements
- Project Support
- Support projects as directed: Kanban / VMI Implementation
- Consignment Implementation
- Continuous supplier performance improvement:
- Participate on internal continuous improvement project activities including: Goal Deployment Plans, Value Stream Mapping, Plan For Every Part, etc.
- Process ETF’s relating supplier invoices
- Material review Board – to advise disposition of excess and obsolete material
- Negotiate on/off site delivery
- Premium freight to maintain production schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years’ experience or HS Diploma with additional years experience gained within a materials role and/or manufacturing environment.
- SRM/SAP Systems – 2 years’ experience preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Office products
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
