Summary:
Works under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Informatics/Education and the CMIO. The primary purpose of the Physician Informaticist & Support Specialist is to promote adoption and utilization of the documentation (Dyn Doc. Workflow) and data retrieval and display tools (mPages) within Cerner. This role will provide ongoing at-the-elbow-support to all providers as needed. In addition, this role will develop EMR application onboarding and ongoing training for one-on-one and groups of physicians as appropriate. This training should be based on workflow analysis and evaluation to design. The Physician Informaticicst & Support Specialist will develop and successfully deliver learning solutions across the organization in order to improve efficiency and promote business objectives. As a member of the Clinical Informatics/Education team, this person will provide ongoing support of EMR products and will work with the team in the maintenance and enhancement of EMR software. Manages and helps design and implement requests for system changes on all assigned modules. Participates in the development and improvement of operational workflow and processes in assigned clinical areas.

All Candidates must have demonstrable experience in managing a training program, knowledge of structured training concepts and techniques, personal experiences as a training instructor and the confidence and ability to apply this knowledge to technical topics in a medical setting. Interpersonal Skills: Must possess highly developed interpersonal communication skills. Must be a team player and have strong customer service skills. roficient in MS Office suite applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Demonstrates strong change management skills. Must possess excellent communication skills, presentation (instructional) skills, creative problem solving and critical thinking skills, and clinical performance improvement.

Cerner Experience Required.

Experience with current and emerging delivery systems with capability of implementing changes as needed. Knowledge base of the regulatory environment for Joint Commission, Core Measures, and Meaningful Use. Experience: Professionals without a healthcare-related degree must have direct on-site experience in a clinical setting, of at least two (2) years within the last 6 years, and be very familiar with processes, policies, role expectations and medical vocabulary. Professionals with a healthcare-related degree must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience, at a super-user level of proficiency, with electronic healthcare system(s).

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or University Program Certificate with major focus of study in management information systems, informatics or healthcare. All Candidates must have demonstrable experience in managing a training program, knowledge of structured training concepts and techniques, personal experiences as a training instructor and the confidence and ability to apply this knowledge to technical topics in a medical setting.

Responsibilities:
Develops positive working relationships with all departments/managers/physicians and clinicians. Serves as the primary liaison to care providers relating to the EMR and provides them with "at the elbow" support. Proactively identifies provider needs and works to develop solutions to address them, including developing effective work flows in specific documentation and order entry modules. Serves as a change agent and promotes processes and workflows that support the organizational goals and strategies. Creates and maintains the training documentation, including but not limited to, presentations, hand-outs, training aids, job-site aids, paper and web-based systems documentation, to meet organization and EMR objectives to ensure care providers are informed of new updates and revision changes. Works closely with the CI Team to understand EHR application changes and/or new functionality for inclusion into the training curriculum. Keeps abreast of current developments and trends in the field, including the use of industry publications and leading websites. Serves as the internal subject matter expert of the EHR regarding product features and capabilities. Attends project, committee, staff and other assigned meetings. Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and facilitate change and innovation. Other duties.
