Public Health Foundation Enterprises dba Heluna Health and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) invite applications for the position of Project Director, 100 Million Healthier Lives. 100 Million Healthier Lives, convened by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, brings together an unprecedented collaboration of change agents across organizations pursuing an unprecedented result: 100 million people living healthier lives by 2020, with equity as the “price of admission.” 100 Million Healthier Lives is supported by a number of organizations, including Heluna Health.

As an integral 100 Million Healthier Lives team member, the Project Director is responsible for the successful planning and execution of a portfolio of projects within selected focus areas. The Project Director facilitates the project team, faculty, and coaches to deliver the most effective and efficient programs and services to improve health and health care outcomes worldwide.

Project Description:

We are seeking a Director who has a wide array of implementation skills, including experience in leading the implementation and operationalizing of large-scale, complex projects in adaptive environment and simultaneously supporting the team around him/her.

Position Responsibilities:
• Leadership and Relationship Management
o Lead effective project teams to achieve desired results
o Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, partners, and faculty; negotiate difficult conversations to a desired end while maintaining trust and respect
o Mentor and develop staff to reach their highest potential
o Optimize work and projects for overall organizational success
o Provide thought leadership to one or more of 100MLives focus areas or content areas
• Project Direction and Design
o Lead effective implementation of project deliverables and timelines
o Drive project design, including conversations with customers, developing proposals, etc. (in conjunction with New Business)
o Lead the development of the the overall vision and strategy for a project
o Establish clear project goals that are tracked and summarized over time
o Work with the Project Manager to support development and delivery of project timelines, budgets, and deliverables on time
o Consult with external organizations and senior leaders to cultivate, test, and implement system improvements
o Design and improve program activities, including modifying program structures, creating curricula, designing trainings and agendas, and testing new approaches to meet desired goals
o Lead and facilitate high-level external meetings (virtual and in-person)
• Content Development and Dissemination
o Identify and develop new opportunities for 100 Million Healthier Lives content, programs, or products
o Develop and execute dissemination plans, including writing blogs, publishing articles with faculty, speaking to reporters, and presenting at conferences
• Fundraising and business development
o Able to project future needs, identify funding opportunities, and lead the development of a successful application for funding
• Act as a spokesperson and representative for the project; present at meetings, partner visits, and 100 Million Healthier Lives-affiliated and partner conferences

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of and experience with one or more of 100 Million Healthier Lives content areas of focus, especially Population Health and Equity
• Project leadership and management skills, including being detail-focused and managing towards aggressive timelines
• Able to maneuver through complex political situations to achieve desired outcomes
• Ability and skill to drive and achieve quality results within complex, time constrained goals
• Excellent communication skills (both interpersonal and written), including superior presentation skills
• Able to think about whole systems, rather than optimize for one part
• Create a compelling vision and build motivation with internal and external teams
• Negotiation, decision making, and delegation skills
• Able to effectively coach and motivate customer teams
• Drive to effectively develop self and others
• Must be an approachable mentor, employee advocate, and team leader

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree highly preferred
• Must have seven to ten years experience working in a team within a complex, professional environment
• Three to five years of experience leading teams of professionals in effective execution of multi-site projects required
• At least five years’ experience working with state-level policy leaders and community coalitions strongly preferred
• Experience providing leadership connecting programmatic activities to technology platforms strongly preferred
• Fundraising and business development experience required
• Experience or knowledge of population health required
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required
• Training and experience with Improvement Methods and methods of collaboration in a wide range of settings (healthcare and population/community health contexts) is required
• Experience in teaching and applying other methods, including design thinking and community organizing are a plus
