Coordinates the development, implementation, support and adoption of clinical information systems and related technology to optimize care delivery, care quality, usability and efficiency for healthcare providers and staff. Promotes the transformation of care through systems and processes to achieve improvements in quality, safety, efficiency and service.
Develops, implements, reviews, and maintains all aspects of CPOE for health system, including:
Analysis, prioritization, origination of standards and governance analysis based on utilization, patient safety, risk, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and resource utilization.
Collaboration and consolidation of existing and proposed order set content into single, system-wide, evidence-based best practice order sets.
Identification of deficits in supporting policies, guidelines, and reference materials supporting clinical care.
Development of technical specifications for CPOE analysts/builders.
Maintenance of development tracking database and periodic review schedule.
Develops clinically relevant clinical decision support rules and tools integrated into provider workflow. Develops core measure compliance methodology and quality improvement innovations
Provides oversight and project management support to assist with integration of related processes (provider/nursing workflows, cross departmental workflows) necessary to achieve successful adoption and optimization of new and existing technologies and systems
Integrates clinical informatics and information technology into clinical practice to promote efficient operations, patient safety and quality care.
Working knowledge of basic patient safety principles, basic theory of quality improvement, regulatory policies and evidenced-based practice
Quality and Safety representative for Daily Safety Check-In, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Forms, Steering Committees, and Performance Improvement initiatives
Works closely with physicians, nurses and departmental leadership to establish workflows and identify process improvements.
Facilitates education programs to support effective use of order sets and provide feedback to the group to improve.
Health system expert for ad hoc reporting utilizing Quality Advisor, including analysis utilizing clinical knowledge and experience todevelop further investigative queries.
Supports System Director of Patient Safety through clinical case reviews, root cause analyses, and event report review
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience and Knowledge:
Five years experience in health care with clinical experience in a variety of settings.
Three years experience in quality improvement. Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate teams.
Experience with electronic charting, order entry and CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry).
Registration, Licensure and/or Certification:
Professional licensure as RN or PA required . Additional training and/or certification in Clinical Informatics preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Visio).
Experience with Cerner Millenium highly desired.
Demonstrated Leadership skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle difficult situations involving physicians, or others in a professional manner.
