Job Description: Attorney
Position Reports to: Chief Legal Officer
Job Purpose Summary: The Attorney's key duty is to assist the Chief Legal Officer with drafting contracts, review leases and other commercial documents. The Attorney will be responsible for researching, writing, and understanding complex legal issues that will arise. Attorney will also be responsible to ensure and enforce compliance standards.
Attorney must be proactive, and be able to intuitively identify issues and gaps and create solutions. The attorney will be in-house, and expected to work independently with little guidance.
Attorney will Draft initial documentation for review, including: letters, memos (internal/external), contracts, notices, leases, agreements, and other legal documents as required.
Attorney will Review/analyze the sufficiency of documentation as it relates to state law or federal tax law requirements.
Attorney will Review/analyze legal documents to determine whether conditions and terms have been met.
Attorney will Review ordinances or other regulations to ensure legality of proposed business practices.
Attorney will Collect, and send out documents, discovery requests, and other information as directed.
Attorney will Review drafts of all documents for consistent use of defined terms and accuracy of cross-references.
Attorney will Prepare, obtain, and organize required contracts, disclosures, and other legal documents.
Attorney will Assemble documents for signature and coordinate their execution
Attorney will Prepare and file all required governmental filings, such as those for the State, or other applicable agency.
Attorney will Regularly communicate with clients, and others individuals.
Attorney will Maintain a tickler system for yearly entity meetings, lease action items, filings, insurance, and other meetings or deadlines.
Attorney will Proof read and review documents.
Attorney will continually compile information, review, document, and update customer files.
Attorney will complete the set-up of entities, and monitor entity compliance.
Attorney will negotiate and advise client.
Attorney Track Safety Training
Help develop tracking for all safety training/certifications etc.
Coordinate trainings with appropriate departments
Attorney Risk Assessments
Identify Risk areas and create/design comprehensive risk assessments
Attorney Create, understand and enforce policies and procedures
Attorney Research, develop and create operational manuals and other directional materials
Attorney Intuitively find gaps in procedures and develop appropriate recommendations/changes
Attorney Occasionally work with governing bodies
The ability to work quickly and accurately
Impeccable Legal writing skills
A general understanding of Utah's laws, regulations and court system
Excellent communication and organization skills
Extremely detail oriented, able to work quickly and accurately
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Excel and Word)
Must have excellent error detection and superb proof reading skills
Need to have an understanding or knowledge of compliance
Understand complex standards and regulations and implement information into appropriate reference manuals or documents.
