The Benefits Assistant position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs as well as the company fleet car program. The Benefits Assistant provides excellent customer service and monitors benefits administration to ensure the highest level of effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Assist in the administration of the various employee benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts).
Manage the company fleet car program to insure compliance with the company policy.
Assist employees by responding to benefits questions and concerns in a timely manner.
Assist with new hire benefits orientations, as needed.
Collaborate on the design and distribution of materials for benefits orientations and open enrollment.
Assist with the maintenance of group benefits databases.
Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as required.
Show proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft products, HR/Payroll and Benefits Administration applications.
Evaluates and revises internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Documents and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations.
Assists in the timeliness and accuracy of required filings.
Assists in maintaining accurate and updated documentation related to all benefit plans and ensures compliant distribution such documents and required notifications to employees.
Special projects as assigned.
Assist with open enrollment.
Assist with ACA reporting and plan audits.
Assist in the annual 401k plan audits, annual non-discrimination testing and provide customer service to plan participants and beneficiaries.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Provides customer service support to internal and external customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience administering company benefits.
Experience with the management of company fleet car programs a plus.
Solid knowledge of best practices related to benefits policies and procedures as well as all ERISA and ACA requirements. Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers’ compensation, Medicare, COBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
