SCAD seeks a Data Visualization Specialist for its Savannah location to create, advocate for, and advance visual and graphic solutions for communicating data and information to university stakeholders.
In this position, you will develop visualizations that make data and information meaningful, useful, and accessible by working collaboratively across departments, specifically on academic, non-academic, and location report cards, accreditation reports, executive presentations and meetings, strategic plan collateral, curriculum guides, and more. You will use the historical and current trends of information and presentation design technologies (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) to create visually stunning representations of data. You will work as part of a team and as an individual using your knowledge and design skills to present data in new and interesting ways.
While the ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in graphic design or a related discipline, we are looking for a highly creative visual thinker with a unique background and resume whose skills and talents will further the team’s visualization opportunities. The ideal candidate is comfortable behind the computer but equally comfortable collaborating with department leadership as they advise and provide counsel on effective representation of data and visual content.
The candidate should also have experience creating layout design as well as web design, HTML, and interactive. The candidate should possess strong listening skills, international work or education experience, the ability to brainstorm and develop solutions with different user groups, and proficiency of Adobe creative suite and presentation software, and is able to direct others in best practices. Visual storytelling experience is a plus as is knowledge of data visualization methodologies and user theory.
