Summary:
The Automations Technician is responsible for understanding and improving packaging and process controls systems including PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) applications, servo motors, VFD (Variable Frequency Drives), etc. to support plant manufacturing business objectives.
The Automation Technician will be expected to maintain a consistent level of communication with other departments (Quality, Warehouse, Production, etc...) and ensure production priorities and shortfalls are addressed in a timely fashion.
Skills & Responsibilities:
- Functions as key point of contact for the shift Maintenance Team and rapidly responds to equipment related problems.
- Communicates information to Maintenance Manager and Leadership team regarding technical issues, equipment problems, and continuous improvement ideas.
- Observes all safety guidelines including LOTO, company rules and regulations, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) in the performance of duties.
- Responsible for selection, integration, start up, and calibration of various controls instrumentation including I/P valves, RTDs, flow meters, pressure transmitters, and other various analog devices.
- Integration to include industrial networking technologies for both PLC peer to peer communications, PLC to remote and I/O communications. Preferably experience with Siemens PLC components and logic.
- Applies troubleshooting skills in a wide variety of machine applications in response to production requirements (VFDs, Electrical Controls, Power Distribution Systems, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems, HVAC, etc..).
- Support daily management of PLC's, HMIs, and related instrumentation to maximize plant efficiency and reliability.
- Support plant projects with controls projects in a manner meeting local regulatory compliance where applicable.
- Responsible for root-cause analysis on control, electrical, and mechanical issues.
- Assist in management and storage of controls related software, hardware and documentation in accordance with good manufacturing practices.
- Technical resource for new products and technologies.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing all production equipment.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing HVAC equipment.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and Repair Power Distribution Systems, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems.
- Troubleshoot, Repair , and Calibrate Load Cells for Scales
- Troubleshoot, Repair , and Calibrate Batch Controllers
- Perform Preventative Maintenance on Production And Facility Equipment
- Assist In Product Change Overs as required in support of production.
- Has knowledge and provides support during IFS, ISO, FDA and customer audits.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- Experience with Siemens PLCs, Drives and HMIs
- Experience with Servo Drives
- Experience with Ethernet Communications and Controls
- Experience with metal detectors
- Experience with flow meters and batch controllers
- Must Be Able to Read a Multi Meter
- Must Be Able to read and understand Technical Manuals, Electrical Prints, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic Prints
- Must Be Able to Read Micro meter, Callipers, And Tape Measure in Both Metric and Standard
- Experience With AC/DC Control Circuits 120 VAC/ 24VDC
- Experience with Power Distributions Systems 480/277 VAC
- Must be physically able to climb on ladders and portable stairways
- Must be able to work from heights
- Must Be Able to Bend, lift, Stoop, and be in Awkward positions for Extended Periods of Time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must Be Able to Stand on Concrete Floors for Extended Periods of Time
- Must Be to Work Overtime, Weekends, And Holidays
- Experience in Food Manufacturing Preferred
Professional Qualifications:
- Applicant must be a committed team worker with a keen sense of responsibility and excellent attention to detail.
- 2 Yrs. Technical School or Associates Degree Preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 5 Years Industrial Maintenance Experience Required preferably in an automated environment
