DATA MINING ANALYST POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Mining Analyst reports to the Senior Vice President of Marketing. This person is responsible for brand performance reporting, including data mining and analysis, explaining variances, and providing ongoing data and reporting support to program and data system users. This person must also have an understanding of multiple point of sale systems and applications for information to enhance brand initiatives. Build, deploy, and maintain data support tools and various reports as needed. Perform data extraction and reconciliation for reports as required. Compile data from internal databases, surveys and other sources. Identify key information gaps and work with team to resolve.
The successful candidate will have proven professional experience and a detailed knowledge of industry’s best practices.
Reporting & Statistics:
Compile data from internal databases and external vendor provided data sources for reports and models
Perform data extraction and provide customized reports, as required. This includes “drilling down” into the data to generate reports for marketing and operations teams to provide actionable intelligence to drive sales
Utilize macros and other tools to increase automation within excel files and databases
Analyze, mine and interpret data and determine the “why” of the results
Work as part of a team to apply research solutions
Perform data extracts using multiple sources, primarily point of sale system information
Prepare custom reports using PowerPoint and excel and able to learn and use new programs as needed
Work with internal marketing and operations teams to ensure sales driving initiatives are implemented correctly based on actionable intelligence gathered via data mining efforts• Gain a larger understanding of company’s industry and learn how best to incorporate business needs into analyses
Other duties and responsibilities:
Perform other related duties and departmental coverage as assigned
Participate in regularly scheduled meetings
Attend and present findings and reports at meetings with various departments and company leadership
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college required
2-6 years of experience in Business Intelligence or Analytics space. Data Science experience nice to have.
Experience working in data analysis or statistics
Ability to understand and work with big data
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong organization and prioritization skills
Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
Attention to details and strong follow through
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PPT and Word
Ability to work independently, meeting deadlines and expectations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Advanced SQL / query language skills with large-scale, complex data sets. Ability to analyze large data sets, manipulate data, and make data driven recommendations.
Highly familiar with database, and data warehouse
Experience managing various tagging and tracking platforms such as Adobe Marketing Cloud (Omniture), Tealium, Google Analytics, etc.???
Experience with the following technologies is desired: Hadoop, Microsoft BI, Spark MongoDB, AWS, Tableau or other OLAP cube/data visualization, Oracle database, Adobe Marketing Cloud (Omniture), Google Analytics, Clicktale, ExactTarget/Salesforce (or similar ESP)???
Data Science background.
In-depth knowledge of R or Python
Exposure to Machine Learning and AI is a plus.
A solid understanding of the restaurant industry is a must with direct experience in this area being highly desired
