Trueline’s client, a culture-focused independent law firm, is seeking an experienced Corporate & Estate Planning Legal Assistant/Secretary to join their team in downtown Chicago. This is an opportunity to join a forward-looking, energetic, and vibrant group of individuals supporting a wide variety of small and medium-sized businesses in the Chicagoland area.
As the Legal Assistant, You Will:
- Provide administrative and executive support for corporate and/or estate planning attorneys
- Accurately edit and format legal documents such as agreements, contracts, affidavits, and more
- Assist attorneys with tasks and procedures associated with corporate closings
- Prepare estate planning documents like wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
- Attend estate plan signings and assist with trust administration
- Create closing binders and interface with clients on administrative matters
- Maintain physical and electronic files, prepare correspondence, and assist with new matters
- Schedule meetings/appointments and maintain attorneys' calendars
- Assist with expense reports and tracking CLE credits
You'll Succeed as the Legal Assistant if you Have:
- 3-5 years of legal secretarial/assistant experience, preferably in corporate and estate planning
- Exceptional English skills, attention to detail, proofreading, and organizational abilities
- Professionalism and ability to connect with clients and provide responsive service
- Knowledge of estate planning documents and ability to prepare/edit them
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, PDF programs, transcription, document comparison
- Typing speed of 70-80 wpm
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, time entry, videoconferencing, office equipment
- Strong communication, time management, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
