Position Summary

Under the supervision of the AVP, Surgical Services, the Clinical Quality Nurse Analyst for Surgical Services will be responsible for carrying out the assigned quality improvement initiatives in the Surgical Services departments. The Clinical Quality Nurse Analyst will identify quality initiatives that are evidence based and develop programs to implement. In addition to quality initiatives providing clinical care to patients is required to ensure clinical excellence is demonstrated. Assures the delivery of quality department /clinical services in accordance with established hospital and under the supervision of the AVP Surgical Services, the Clinical Quality Nurse Analyst for the Surgical Services Departments will be responsible for carrying out the assigned quality improvement initiatives in the departments. The Clinical Quality Nurse Analyst will identify quality initiatives that are evidence based and develop programs to implement. In addition to quality initiatives providing clinical care to patients is required to ensure clinical excellence is demonstrated. Assures the delivery of quality department /clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards.

In collaboration with the Nurse Managers and the AVP, Surgical Services,

Participates in the Performance Improvement Program as the nursing representative in Surgical Services, collaborating with the medial liaison on Surgical Services Department initiatives.
Oversees and maintain nursing quality scorecard including analyzing data and metrics.
Assures the provision of a safe employee/patient environment.
Maintains knowledge related to the operations of Surgical Services.
Maintains clinical knowledge in Surgical Services and spends 25% to 30% of time in clinical areas involved in patient care activities
Works collaboratively with all levels of the hospital interdisciplinary team and promotes the team concept within Surgical Services and hospital wide.
Supportive of hospital initiatives and projects and functions as a positive change agent.
Adheres to the tenets of the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals
Delegates activities to ancillary staff as it relates to the State Nurse Practice Act
Adheres to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics
Completes competency requirements
Attends mandatory in-services
Attends staff meetings as required/requested
Utilizes cost containment practices
Assures Regulatory/accreditation agency standards.
Oversees the Surgical Services Quality Analyst

Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
Assures the delivery of quality department /clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards.
Responsible for participation in committees, task forces and projects as appropriate.
Assures the provision of a safe employee/patient environment.
Performs all other related duties as assigned
