UPMC Hamot's Operating Room has opportunities for Registered Nurses to join their team in the Weekend Program! This program is considered full-time, granting access to full-time benefits. The role requires working 48 weekends per year, with shifts spanning from 7 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday. The successful candidate will also be scheduled to work holidays that fall on weekends. Additionally, there’s a 25% differential on top of the base rate for participating in the Weekend Program (note that this differential applies only to weekend shifts; weekday shifts are compensated at the base rate).
We have a 17 suite operating room that offers wide variety of specialties from Robotics, Kidney Transplants, Trauma and almost everything in between. We provide high quality care for both our elective and urgent patients from infant to geriatrics. Responsibilities:

- Patient Care: Use the nursing process to create a healing environment. Set daily goals and care plans with patients, considering their holistic needs. Job Requirements:
- Patient Care Skills: Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care for patients of all ages. Understand growth and development principles and assess patient data to meet age-specific needs as per department policies.
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
- Productivity and Adaptability: Work effectively in a complex environment, handle multiple and changing priorities, and use specialized equipment.
- Clinical Judgment: Exhibit good clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities related to patient care. Lead others in applying the nursing process.
- Physical Requirements: Have mobility, visual manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Preferred Certification: UPMC-approved national certification.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement.
- CPR Certification: CPR certification based on AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration, within 30 days of hire.
- Graduate Nurses: Must complete the licensure examination within four months of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Temporary permits are valid for one year from graduation, not from the issue date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
- Clearances: Act 33 with renewal, Act 34 with renewal, Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
