The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking to hire three part-time Scalehouse Operators within the Waste Management Division. This newly-created part-time position will support scale operations during peak times. Employees in this position will work one or two shifts each week, totaling 8-10 hours weekly. Scheduling needs are greatest on Saturdays and Mondays. All work hours are between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Saturday.
The successful candidate will operate all functions of the scalehouse in accordance with department policies and serve as the first point of contact for customers depositing waste at the Loudoun County Landfill. This position will accurately assess the waste type customers bring to the landfill and charge appropriate fees; communicate waste policy and user fees to the public; provide accurate and complete revenue collections; assure that cash, credit/debit card, and account charges are reconciled; and provide additional support in other landfill operations, as needed.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and at least four (4) years of experience in a cashier/customer service role that includes at least one (1) year of computer experience. MS Word or database experience preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
A valid driver's license is required. Must be available to work on Mondays and Saturdays. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday; must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive.
