Execute the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process in the Consumer Brands business unit of DFA. This includes facilitating data gathering and communications necessary for the S&OP process, driving concise messaging and content for the executive meetings, and collaborating closely with cross-functional groups to get holistic views of our business strategy and recommendations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide ongoing strategic direction and execution of S&OP process
  • Lead S&OP management reviews, prepare all data and metrics for review, identify gaps and scenarios that must be presented, and guide final decision making on open items and trade-offs
  • Have robust demand and supply reviews that incorporate product lifecycle plans. Understand and communicate the root causes and financial implications for any gap that exists between top-down and bottom-up plans
  • Develop supporting KPIs and facilitate regular S&OP meetings with demand planners, factory schedulers and inter-company buyers to ensure cross-functional consensus and accountability for:
o Accurate consensus demand planning over production scheduling horizons
o Production schedule realism to support consensus demand plans
o Weekly inventory days on-hand to protect for production / demand fluctuations
  • Conduct what-if analyses to create alternate scenarios for reconciling demand, supply, and financial plans. Explain the risks and upside associated with the different scenarios
  • Ensure production supply meets sales and inventory replenishment demand across all channels of trade while optimizing EBITDA and working capital
  • Direct the development, implementation, and reporting of standards and KPIs, ensuring they support the divisions’ business plans; when progress lags objectives, identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Work closely with General Managers, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Customer Service, Finance, and customers to verify all business processes are aligned and focused on customer satisfaction and cost optimization
  • Identify gaps between current plans and financial commitments, derive possible gap closing initiatives, and highlight the risks and opportunities
  • Leverage industry-wide best practices and continuous improvement methodologies to continually enhance the S&OP process
  • Incorporate inventory strategies to optimize raw material inventories for existing products and planning for new product introductions

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s preferred in Business, Statistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Management
  • 7+ years management experience in a Sales & Operations Planning environment in a CPG industry
  • Relevant and successful operational experience at market / business level in at least three of the following areas: Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Customer Service, Distribution Operations, Procurement, Sales, Key Account Management, Marketing, Marketing Research, Finance (Business Planning / Dynamic Forecasting)
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a complex organization
  • Prior experience in a commodity based business preferred
  • Understanding of advanced supply chain concepts and their financial impact
  • Certification and/or License – APICS certification preferred

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
