Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant assists the Accounting Manager in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data in the general ledger. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in assisting the Accounting Manager with the timely and accurate production of monthly financial statements.

Prepares journal entries by compiling and analyzing information
Reconciles cash postings against cash received with the Patient Accounts department and business offices to ensure all cash received is posted timely and accurately
Maintains databases that warehouse a variety of metrics including, but not limited to utilization of outside services and internal productivity
Assists with monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting processes
Ensures accuracy and integrity of the general ledger by reconciling balance sheet accounts and analyzing income statement accounts on a monthly basis
Works closely with Advancement department staff and restricted fund account Managers to monitor and ensure the accuracy of the restricted fund account balances
Strong knowledge of the organization’s general ledger structure, accounting principles and department policies and procedures
Processes payroll related outflows, reconciles payroll data to ensure processed outflows are accurate
Serves as primary back-up for payroll and clerical accounting functions
Assists with annual audits and various annual reporting
Ad-hoc duties as required
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in the accounting / finance field.
Previous Healthcare experience is preferred
Strong analytical skills

Solid organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to develop and maintain relationships at various levels within and outside the organization
Advanced technological proficiencies, inclusive of Microsoft Office
Excellent communication skills including both written and verbal
