The Gwinnett County Police Department is a nationally accredited and rapidly growing police agency located in the Northeastern quadrant of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Department currently has an authorized strength of 783 sworn officers supported by 280 civilian employees with the responsibility of providing law enforcement services to approximately 800,000 residents within an area of 436 square miles. The Department is organized into the Office of the Chief and two Bureaus with four Divisions: Administrative Services, Support Operations, Criminal Investigations and Uniform Divisions.
This is the first level of the Crime Scene series. Incumbents are trained on the job to become Crime Scene Specialist II's. This position is responsible for providing assistance in the collection and processing of evidence at crime scenes, and in a laboratory environment
This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.
The Grade for this position is B213.
Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Must complete coursework required to obtain P.O.S.T. certification as an Identification Technician at Department's discretion
Valid Driver's License from state of residency
This position may require: 24 hour on call assignment, overtime, or working weekends, holidays, 10-hour, 12-hour, and rotating shifts.
Must be able to work rotating shifts, M – F, and On-Call status during weekends and holidays. 5% differential for 3-11 & 11-7 shifts, and/or on-call pay.
