Providence is calling a full time, day shift Sr. Research Scientist to Providence John Wayne Cancer Institute Santa Monica, CA.
In this position you will:
Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, directly supervise and manage projects related to program activities of theTranslational Neurosciences and Neurotherapeutics laboratory directed by the Medical Director.
Coordinate with laboratories, investigators and staff (including partner laboratories), and provide support for programmatic and individual investigator research within the program.
Interact with faculty and staff at many levels, including JWCI departments, LA Biomed, administrators and marketing team at JWCI.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Ph.D. degree in life or biomedical sciences, or a related discipline
Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and project management skills, including the ability to network, strong personal integrity and teamwork abilities are necessary.
Must be experienced in discovery biology, preclinical drug development, experimental design for target ID engagement projects with new chemical entities and repurposing drugs.
Must be able to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
Strong working knowledge of the organization of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access), and scientific-specific IT platforms (Asana, Endnote, Reference Manger, Bioinformatics, Prism and Sigmaplot).
Must have a thorough understanding of cancer and neuroscience drug development process.
Experience working with animal models of disease.
Demonstrated record of scientific/medical publication.
Ability to work effectively with many people at various levels of the organization.
Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, patients, co-workers, management, physicians, and visitors.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance to hospital policy.
