Overview: The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON / MDS Coordinator) assists the Director of Nursing (DON) with planning, coordinating and managing the nursing department. The ADON / MDS Coordinator is responsible for completion of the MDS 3.0.

Qualifications: The ADON / MDS Coordinator must be a Registered Nurse from an accredited college, be currently licensed in Kansas without encumbrance, be responsible for maintaining professional licensure and CEU requirements. It is preferred that the ADON / MDS person has 1- 2 years supervisory experience in a geriatric setting. Current CPR certification is also required.

Duties and Responsibilities: Duties are determined by Colonial Village’s needs and may include, but are not limited to, the following,

  • Oversees the Care Plan initiation and Care Plan updating process.
  • Assists in all phases of the delivery of nursing care for residents in the nursing facility.
  • Assists with the infection control program.
  • Assists with evaluating current residents and potential admissions to ensure Colonial Village can provide appropriate level of care.
  • May assist with hiring and providing orientation/training and retention of a sufficient number of qualified staff to carry out nursing programs and services.
