The Department of Health Ecosystem at the Dell Medical School is looking for an Research Associate II.
This position is a temporary position with an end date of 08/31/2025 renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.
Purpose
Factor Health builds, tests and scales health programs delivered in the landscape of people’s lives. We are looking for a research staff person to assist with the planning support, direct research participant contact, and measurement collection for our Kidney Health: Eat Well, Live Well program in Houston, Texas. Data collection as part of a research trial that rigorously tests the efficacy of the health intervention will be a major component of overall responsibilities. The research staff will primarily be involved in the Kidney Health program, with a possibility of being involved in other programs as well.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the entire Factor Health research and implementation team and Harris Health partners on a range of activities during both program implementation and research activities.
Assist research staff with ideas on how to improve research procedures to optimize program development, implementation, and recruitment.
Build relationships with a participant-first mentality and treating all participants with respect, dignity and understanding.
Outreach, screen, recruit, provide informed consent to study participants via telephone and/or in-person contact.
Review electronic medical records for study inclusion and exclusion criteria in collaboration with Harris Health partners and clinical champions.
Collect data from participants at clinic sites. This will include collection of biospecimens (finger-stick and urine samples for clinical tests), and the collection of measurements such as height and weight, blood pressure, and survey questions.
Enter and quality check research data into central database for future analysis.
Report enrollment progress in weekly reports and during team huddles.
Manage and track outreach progress in close collaboration with research manager.
Maintain and manage research supply inventory.
Maintain privacy and confidentiality of participants’ health and other personal information.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a health or research related field and two years of related experience. Basic engineering and/or scientific equipment ordinarily used in college laboratory work. Demonstrated ability to communicate (written and verbal) and interact skillfully with investigators, staff, and researchers; work both as a team member and independently without continuous supervision; work with sensitive and confidential information; adapt to a dynamic and deadline-driven, research participant-oriented environment. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with REDCap database or other research data collection software. Experience working in an electronic medical record (EMR) program such as Epic, and/or background in chart review/ ability to interpret data from medical records. Experience working in a public health or clinical setting. Fluency in Spanish preferred.
Salary Range
$45,000+ depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
Travel using your own mode of transportation to pre-selected Harris Health System clinic sites within Houston.
Interaction with study participants at external partner sites and some onsite office work at an administrative Harris Health site in Houston.
May require working some evenings and on some weekends (depending on when research participants can schedule appointments).
May work in clinical setting and around standard office conditions.
This is not a laboratory position.
