Salus Discovery is seeking a bright and innovative individual with experience in bioassay development and an outstanding track record in grant writing to fill a Scientist position. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Biology or related field and must possess a strong work ethic, excellent technical communication skills, and a proven ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.   • Lead grant writing efforts
  • Design and execute experiments in a BSL2 lab setting
  • Compile results and perform statistical data analysis
  • Write and maintain lab documentation and protocols
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Interface with commercial assay development partners

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline with 2+ years experience
  • Extensive scientific/medical writing experience, including research proposal development and scientific manuscripts
  • Experience with aseptic technique in a BSL2 or greater lab setting
  • Willingness to process and handle biological samples (urine, blood, sputum, stool)
  • Results-oriented and innovative individual motivated by continuous improvement
  • The ability to collaborate with team members of various educational and technical backgrounds with a track record for delivery of results, accountability and ownership in a team setting
  • The ability to adapt under conditions of ambiguity and enthusiastically take on new assignments
  • The ability to work independently and autonomously identify needs and problems
  • Must have permanent US work authorization

Qualifications (experience in some or all of the below preferred)

  • Experience in writing SBIR proposals
  • Experience in biomolecule separations and purification
  • Experience in sample preparation, cell-based assays, and/or lateral flow assays
  • Experience in laboratory analytics, including: RT-PCR, microscopy, ELISA, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry
  • Experience in in vitrodiagnostics
  • Prior relevant industry or product development experience
  • Experience with CLIA, FDA, ISO13485, cGLP certifications

Salus Discovery’s initial focus has been on Exclusion-based Sample Preparation (ESP), which is a novel approach to isolating biomarkers, that is quicker, easier, and more economical than competing technologies.
