A Data Scientist transforms data into value. Using analytical rigor and statistical methods, you will use data to identify opportunities for Ford to operate more efficiently.
Our data scientists are also Change Agents. You will do more than just identify the opportunity; you will craft the solution and work across teams to help re-engineer Ford's business practices.
You will collaborate with partners in purchasing, product development, manufacturing, warranty, material planning, logistics and other Ford functions to define problems, identify data, develop data pipelines, develop predictive and prescriptive models and deliver solutions that effect change and yield measurable, transformational benefits to Ford.
Each year, Ford spends ~$100B on parts ranging from nuts and bolts to complex modules and systems for the vehicles assembled in its plants. Many questions arise: Which suppliers to use? What is our optimal global supplier footprint? What is the supply base risk, and how can we manage it? How can we buy at the lowest cost, and what is the lowest cost?
The long lead time between vehicle design and production prompts even more questions: How can we better forecast and control program cost risk? Can we predict supplier launch readiness? How can we manage other launch risks?
These are just some of the important questions being addressed in Ford's procurement organization today. The Supply Chain Analytics team within the Global Data Insight and Analytics (GDI&A) organization leverages data mining, statistical analyses, machine learning, and operations research techniques to provide relevant answers to these questions. We develop cutting edge data pipelines, build accurate predictive & prescriptive models, and deploy automated software solutions to provide actionable insights to our business partners and senior leaders across the company.

Work with large, complex data sets and apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to develop solutions for real world, non-routine, large scale analysis problems.
Interact and work cross-functionally with a wide variety of teams to implement the methodology and algorithms into visual solutions (dashboards) for Ford internal customers.
Share and present work to cross-functional teams and executive leadership
Job Requirements:Basic Qualifications:
BS in Statistics or a related quantitative discipline
6+ months experience in at least one statistical software package such as R or Python
6+ months experience using SQL for acquiring and transforming data
3+ months experience in a Statistician or Data Scientist role
PhD degree in a quantitative discipline
Outstanding quantitative modeling and statistical analysis skills such as GLM, causal inference, applied time series modeling and machine learning forecasting applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to peer, management and business audiences
Publication record in tier-1 statistical journals
Experience with object-oriented programming languages
Experience building complex data visualizations
Work experience in automotive industry and/or in a supply chain department
Strong project management skills
