Accent Food Services is looking to add an IT Applications Director as a new role reporting to the VP of IT. The ideal candidate will have experience crafting a technology vision that accelerates growth and success in a changing industry. This leader will direct and influence how IT solutions are deployed and used in markets across the US. They will oversee how the AFS IT solutions integrate with internal systems and data infrastructure, in how they integrate with other applications peripheral to our Vending Management System, and with the AFS data warehouse and Business Intelligence platform.

The Accent Food Services Applications team will support core IT solutions; VMS, ERP, Retail POS, Project Management, Financial Analysis and Reporting, BI, Vendor Management, and software lifecycle as needed. As the Director of IT Apps, you will help guide the organization by leveraging current IT assets to execute core areas of responsibility, ensuring Accent Food Services is recognized as the best convenience foods providers in the industry.
The IT Apps Director will work from AFS headquarters in Austin, TX. Some travel will be required to conduct strategy meetings with key AFS resources and vendors.

The main aspects of this role are:
  • Provide vision and leadership to develop the Accent Food Services IT applications support team and assist in the definition of future talent needs of the organization
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with functional leaders to ensure the technology vision aligns with the business needs and is executed effectively
  • Provide IT governance and leadership to follow industry best practice concepts around IT and Financial controls
  • Develop and maintain system standards
  • Leverage data and predictive analytics to help the AFS business identify opportunities for future growth
  • Manage daily operations and ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement of IT apps solutions and their support of the business and its day-to-day processes
  • Define data and application architecture vision for the future and drive work to achieve it
  • Develop and own the application architecture needed to support the company’s strategic business objectives
  • Evaluate and recommend software solution apps that drive business and IT efficiencies for existing business along with building a platform capable of supporting growth through M&A
  • Develop M&A integration strategies as opportunities arise that support business execution and drive expected synergies
  • In conjunction with the Program Management Office (if in place), facilitate business-led governance processes to identify the most beneficial IT initiatives for the organization and create application roadmaps aligned with the strategy to drive business results
  • Work with the business to develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
  • Oversee on-time/on-budget/in scope delivery of projects that deliver anticipated results, promoting established project management methodologies and systems development best practices
  • Manage all application support teams to ensure systems provide proper service levels as required by the business
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the business systems needs of the company that includes managed service agreements
  • Assist the VP of IT in the creation and delivery of IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures to guarantee effective delivery of IT solutions
  • Identify and negotiate opportunities for the cost-effective investment of financial resources including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, in-house development, and strategic outsourcing
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments to the IT and executive leadership team
  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets as they relate to the business
  • Assess and make recommendations on the continuous improvement of the IT organization
  • Manage and provide overall direction, coordination, and guidance to the team of managers that supports and drives the responsibilities above, including prioritizing activities, evaluating performance and reporting progress
  • Select, manage, and ensure accountability of third party vendors for both short and long-term needs, and to supplement skills/abilities during peaks and transitions
  • Develop deep understanding of trends and consumer expectations in the convenience foods industry
  • to drive technology recommendations and strategy for how we compete
  • Manage team priorities and make trade-offs, understanding and communicating consequences to stakeholders
  • Engage in strategy development, business process re-engineering, and business analysis as they support the growth and development of Accent Food Services
  • Educate business partners on roles, responsibilities, processes and deliverables required to ensure effective delivery of new technology solutions
  • Mentor and coach team members for the purposes of developing their hard and soft skills in support of the Accent Food Services business
  • Communicate and ensure effective delivery of business deliverables and tasks for delivery of technology solutions (development of business requirements, scope management, training business change management and deployment)
  • Ensure projects and programs are completed within the committed time and budget and are integrated with other software applications
  • Establish and manage IT application development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.)
  • Provide information and periodic updates to support overall IT performance metrics, monthly project status reporting and quarterly resource planning review
  • Recruit, train, and retain a highly qualified business intelligence team that is focused on enabling business success
  • Maintain and support the Business Intelligence systems and technology roadmap ensuring that it aligned with the needs of the businesses
  • Maintain and support Executive Dashboards and reporting systems
  • Own and maintain all Master Data Management activities across the AFS financial and production systems landscape
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or Business Administration required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Background experience in working for a Private Equity owned company
  • Applicable work experience of at least 3 years in people management and oversight of multiple IT disciplines and teams
  • Ownership of a large system implementation projects (ERP, CRM, WMS, VMS)
  • Demonstrated success in vendor management skills, including experience in evaluation, negotiation, selection and project management of vendors
  • Strong project organizations skills and budget management experience
  • Experienced in communicating and presenting at the C-suite level
  • Enterprise apps implementation experience in the distribution, convenience foods, or retail space is required
  • Experience in helping organizations design, architect and implement both business intelligence solutions and enterprise financial platforms to support Finance and Business
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of BI data warehouse management and reporting techniques and best practices
  • Business Intelligence experience in creating charts, graphs, dashboards in one or more of the following programs – Microsoft Excel, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, WebFocus, MicroStrategy, Qlik, and or other similar products
  • Demonstrated Excel charting and pivot table experience
  • Demonstrated analytical critical thinking skills for process development or problem resolution
  • Demonstrated skill as an effective leader, communicator and collaborator with a passion for developing employee talent
