The Business Intelligence Developer will be a key contributor on the newly established EDW team. The role will work on BI solutions and projects incorporating dashboards, reporting and self service delivery across all functions of the bank including; Finance, Retail, Bank Services, and Risk Management. This role will take responsibility for BI development following industry best practices and have input into Data Modeling, Data Management, and BI Tool Management. This position will play a key role in the transition from traditional reporting to a more dynamic, real-time analytics environment ensuring a foundation to deliver information to internal consumers at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead business analysis activities to gather requirements and translate them to EDW and BI technical specifications
  • Design, build and deploy integrated BI solutions (Dashboards, Standard Reports, ADHOC Self Service, Scorecards) using industry BI Tools like Power BI and Tableau that have direct impact on enterprise strategy
  • Solution for and support analytical models and analysis
  • Analyze and integrate existing reporting (Access, Excel, other vendor tools) into the new EDW and BI tools
  • Provide training and technical assistance for data, BI tool and solutions to end users and other team members
  • Conduct tool upgrade testing and support and deliver and support input for data quality reviews
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation which could include tool configuration, formal business requirements, metadata, KPI definitions and business rules
  • Guide and support BI best practice, efficient platform integrations, and suggest continual process and efficiency improvements to ensure full value is achieved from the EDW/BI investments
  • Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented and maintained for BI tools and solutions
  • Input to the evaluation of new EDW and BI tools
  • Develop and maintain relationships across IT and the business with special focus on roles that are heavy consumers of data for analytics
  • Anticipate customer needs, proactively develop solutions, and suggest how BI can support the enterprise strategic projects
Organizational Relationship:
This position reports to the Manager of Business Intelligence and Analytics.

Position Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a technology area of study; preferably in Computer Science, MIS or Analytics. Masters Preferred
  • 10+ years equivalent work experience in Information Technology or a structured Data Analytics function
  • 7+ years analysis experience, including documenting business requirements and/or functional specifications in a data warehousing environment
  • 7+ years of experience with SQL query tools and Business Intelligence tools like Power BI, Qlikview, Cognos, Business Objects or Tableau
  • 5+ years driving and consulting on enterprise BI solutions and data integration projects
  • 5+ years of experience in banking and/or financial services
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Excellent communication, leadership and collaboration skills
  • Experience to gather data and reporting business requirements from all levels of associates and translating into integrated BI Solutions
  • Ability to interpret data, providing high-level analyses of management information
  • Proven ability as a BI Developer building dashboards, scorecards and reports in an integrated manner
  • Understanding of data warehouse design, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
  • Ability to proactively suggest BI solutions and diagnostic metric needs based on user interactions
  • Knowledge of data modeling, metadata collection and documentation
  • Ability to establish and follow a sound IT development methodology
  • In-depth understanding of BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI)
  • Knowledge of SQL queries, and Microsoft SQL tools (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS)
  • Strong analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude; strategic thinking with ability to connect the dots during user interactions

  • Customer-focused ability to communicate and present across all levels of the organization
  • Proactive leadership style; self-starter, strong attention to detail, and independent work management skills
