L3 SSG is seeking an experienced Mission Assurance (MA) Engineer with the energy and drive to lead MA deployment on key SSG programs in order to deliver overall mission success. The MA Engineer will oversee MA efforts on individual programs as well as supporting other activities and programs with applications in space, airborne and ground-based EO systems/payloads.
Drive program MA process implementation to identify and mitigate design, production, test and field support deficiencies and ensure mission success including design assurance, reliability, safety, parts, materials and processes, contamination control, risk and opportunity management, independent reviews and assessments, failure investigations and other critical MA activities.
Review customer MA requirements and ensure program mission assurance processes are in place for successful program execution.
Prepare MA plans to define MA activities for programs.
Provide program support to define, assess and monitor MA requirements and processes; assess program performance and risks; and resolve issues.
Support program execution from the proposal phase, program start-up and through to program completion.
Ensure that customer requirements, statutory/regulatory requirements and program objectives are satisfied in a timely, cost effective manner by partnering with program teams and functional managers. MA activities must support Program technical, schedule and cost objectives.
Drive resolution of issues potentially impacting mission success by working with program teams, customers, and suppliers.
Work with key suppliers to ensure MA flow-down requirements are met.
Some travel will be required to ensure key subcontractor mission assurance program elements are met.
A BS Engineering or the equivalent, advanced degree or MBA is preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of hands-on MA experience in the design, development and manufacturing of complex space flight hardware. Experience in the production of sophisticated electro-optical sensors and systems preferred.
Strong competency in, and experience with Systems Engineering disciplines.
Past experience demonstrating effective change management and continuous improvement is highly desired.
Extensive knowledge of mission assurance specifications and standards for aerospace equipment and quality programs is required. Knowledge of AS9100 is a plus.
Excellent written and presentation skills with the ability to clearly and competently convey Mission Assurance requirements and execution strategies to the program team, customers, and subcontractors.
Acceptable Mission Assurance disciplines include, Reliability Engineering, Parts Materials and Process Engineering, System Engineering, Quality Engineering.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to work as an individual contributor and as a team leader in a cross-functional, matrix environment.
Strong business acumen with the ability to work with customers and suppliers.
Existing TS/SCI (SSBI) security clearance or the ability to satisfy requirements for a TS/SCI SSBI security clearance.
