Culture Biosciences is a Bay Area start-up company who built the first cloud bioreactor facility. This allows biotechnology companies to design, run, and analyze high-throughput bioreactor experiments for microbial and mammalian cell culture through our web application. As a Hardware Technician you will be part of the Engineering & Hardware team here at Culture Biosciences. Your core function is hands-on manufacturing, repair and testing of hardware assemblies. Additional tasks may include supporting equipment installation/maintenance, participating in inventory management, and collaborating on development projects.
What you will do:
Assemble bioreactors, utility carts, single-use vessels and experiment accessories.
Perform in-process verification testing to assess assembly compliance with acceptance criteria.
Document issues and observations via our internal reporting systems.
Execute routine preventative maintenance and other quality checks on equipment, bioreactors, or single use items.
Communicate with team members on status of hardware systems or objectives.
Support prototype fabrication for new concepts and provide feedback to engineering staff.
Run sample tests using engineering-provided test methods and collect accurate data points.
Partner with engineering to problem-solve issues related to device assembly, failure modes or optimization.
Assist in managing lab infrastructure, component inventory, material flow, and inventory cataloging.
Participate in flex assignments to support the Bioprocessing team when needed.
What you bring to the team:
Must have a minimum H.S. diploma with 3+ years experience in a fast paced production assembly environment or an Associates degree with 2+ years experience or a Bachelors degree with 0-6+ months experience working in an industry production assembly environment.
High mechanical aptitude and able to learn new things quickly.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Able to work cross-functionally with different teams or departments.
Capable of lifting 25 lbs from ground to waist level.
This is an on-site role in our South San Francisco facility. During the time period in which COVID-19 restrictions are still in force, 40 work hours will be distributed across predefined shifts. Occasional overtime work may be requested with advanced notice. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, generally 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
