Key Business Objectives:
This is a leadership role within USA Compression’s human resources function reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources. The position will be responsible for managing the company’s various benefits programs as well as compensation rewards programs. This position is responsible for improving the performance and returns of our plans as well as the connections to the overall engagement, attraction and retention of our employee base. A strong financial acumen with the ability to manage the benefits P&L accurately is critical to the role’s success. Partnership and a developed set of subject matter expert relationship with our field operating personnel is mission critical to this role. We are an operating company and our role is to add value through systems and programs that support our commercial performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, propose, execute or administer a wide variety of employee benefit programs that meet organization and employee needs at an acceptable economic value including the exploration and implementation of a self-insured medical benefits plan(s).
Partner with benefits broker to research, evaluate and recommend to the Vice President of HR and then the executive leadership potential modification or changes to existing programs or the implementation of new programs that drive value to the business.
Analyze the effectiveness of existing compensation programs, guidelines, and procedures, recommending plan revisions, as well as new plans which are effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives - ensure that all aspects of plan design and administration remains in compliance with FLSA and any other applicable laws/regulations.
Partner closely with company business leaders on a variety of compensation and benefit matters. • Provide compensation and benefits counsel and guidance on programs that are competitive in the industry and frequently benchmark best practices.
Provide recommendations on pay decisions, policy/practice interpretation and job evaluation, including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.
Manage the administration of direct compensation (executive, exempt and nonexempt, cash compensation programs) and direct participation in market or industry relevant salary surveys.
Manage the annual merit and bonus processes and make program design recommendations based on relevant market data as defined by company compensation philosophy.
Research, analyze and recommend modifications to existing benefits plans to improve services to employees in a cost effective manner; participate in benefit plan contract negotiation meetings with vendors including the benefits administration outsourced solution partner.
Partner with the Manager of HR and other resources to implement the compensation modules in Ultipro.
Develop and administer the company's compensation programs under the direction of the VP of HR. Focus areas will include evaluate positions, create salary or job family structures, providing leadership guidance on program guidelines and pay decisions, analyze pay practices, research and recommend changes to existing programs.
Drive the development of an enterprise-wide wellness program that delivers value, reduces medical costs and improves the overall health of our employees and their families. Identify areas to improve employee wellness through targeted interventions in various high risk categories.
Partner with the Manager of HR and our third party partners to prepare annual government filings to ensure compliance with existing and developing regulations including ERISA, IRS, DOL, HIPAA, FMLA, ADEA, ADA, ACA and any other federal, state or local laws. Ensure required plan documentation, SPDs are maintained and distributed to participants as required.
Evaluate and manage third party vendors responsible for providing data or services used in the management and administration of compensation and benefit programs ensuring that contract obligations are met, programs are administered in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, and value is generated by the services provided. • Partner with corporate accounting on financial performance of benefit plans.
Partner with Associate General Counsel on the management of the company’s LTIP.
Skills/Capabilities and Education:
Minimum 10 years progressive benefits and compensation experience with extensive knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field. MBA or MS a plus.
Certification; i.e., SPHR, CCP, CEBS or similar professional designations preferred.
Strong technical ability in Microsoft Excel and with software applications including the development of configurable tables, custom reporting, interfaces, and data transfer.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels both internally and externally.
Ability to successfully manage complex projects, programs, processes, or policies.
Strong organizational skills.
Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Strong business acumen and utilization and management of human capital.
Full time Exempt-level position Working Conditions:
Travel is required and is expected to be approximately 5% of the time worked.
Periodic lifting requirements up to 50 pounds may occur.
Ability to stand and walk, as normally expected in an office setting.
The position requires ability to read and interpret data as well as having the capacity to professionally and effectively communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of company personnel utilizing servant leadership skills.
