The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Predictive Maintenance Team Leader (PdM) reporting to the Facility & Systems Engineering Department Manager within the MFC Engineering Division.

INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel design, development and fabrication through post irradiation analysis.

The PdM Leader will be responsible for the development, management and oversight of the PdM Program. The PdM Leader will be responsible for training technicians and coordinating with maintenance, engineering, and work management personnel in the appropriate execution of the MFC PdM program and develop a process to integrate with planning and work control.

The formulation of a clear, concise statement of PdM program objectives

Selection of monitoring technologies, test equipment, and software

Selection of equipment to be included in the monitoring program

The technologies to be used on each specific piece of equipment

Coordinate post maintenance testing activities with planning and maintenance

Producing and distributing reports on PdM results

Coordinating results with planning, maintenance, and engineering

The systematic monitoring and measurement of performance and achievement

The execution of corrective action necessary to achieve the planned result

Reviewing equipment and system technical documentation to evaluate causes of detected equipment defects

Recommending changes in equipment operating procedures/models based on failure analysis


Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering with 5-7 years of relevant experience in predictive maintenance activities.

Must be a US Citizen and have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance.

Required Skills:
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner with a broad array of disciplines and work groups

Level 1 Certification in Infrared Thermograph

Level 2 Certification in Vibration Analysis

Preferred Skills:
Level 2 Certification in Infrared Thermograph

Level 3 Certification in Vibration Analysis

Level 1 Certified Lubrication Technologist

Demonstrated capability in Motor Current Analysis

Demonstrated capability in Ultrasound
