Full Job Description
SCAD seeks a full-time research and instruction librarian to directly support the academic and creative needs of remarkable students in historic Savannah, Ga.
In this role, you will provide innovative library instruction and research services to groups and individuals, form beneficial collaborative partnerships across the SCAD community in order to promote library resources and services, and help to develop library collections. You will facilitate scholarly and creative engagement and pursuits, lead library instruction for undergraduate and graduate students, and promote partnerships with the greater SCAD community. Using your in-depth knowledge of library resources and services, you will collaborate with faculty and staff to help students develop their information literacy skills and create/maintain online research guides, tutorials, and other instructional assets. You will also plan and contribute to outreach programs that promote library resources and services, contribute to the library’s social media presence, assist in maintaining statistics and assessments of library services; and identify, evaluate, and apply current and emerging technologies to better support research and instructional services.
The successful candidate is a stellar written and verbal communicator and uses these exceptional interpersonal skills to plan and provide library instruction based on best practices in information literacy. Always up-to-date with current emerging practices in teaching, learning, and instructional technology, the candidate should demonstrate a strong knowledge base that supports reference and instructional services.
Education or significant research experience in one or more subjects offered at SCAD
Professional experience working collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff in an academic library environment
Fluency with digital tools, discovery applications, catalogs, and systems like LibGuides, the Springshare suite, Sierra ILS, etc.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred
