BECOME A VETERINARY EMERGENCY TECHNICIAN
Are you a veterinary technician who is looking to expand their skills into emergency medicine? Have you always wanted to be part of a trauma team that manages interesting and complex cases? At Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic our technicians are required to complete a 4 week-paid emergency and critical care training course to prepare you for the ICU and OR.
This is a 24-hour emergency clinic open 365 days per year. We opened our doors in 1991 and we are growing every day. We have 24+ Veterinarians, 60+ Technicians, 15+ Assistants and 10+ Client Service Representatives. We work side-by-side with different specialty departments and care for their patients during the overnight. Technicians will eventually gain experience after their 90 days working with neurology, orthopedic, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, rehabilitation and ophthalmology cases. It is a great field to develop your skills and there is always something new and exciting to learn!
We are a paper-lite hospital with digital medical records (EzyVet) and radiographs (SmartPacs). Our technicians round on their own cases and use Ipads (SmartFlow) for treatment sheets, nursing notes and anesthesia monitoring. Within our facility we also have a CT, an MRI, Hyperbaric O2 Chamber, Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Echocardiography, and Radiation Therapy, however, our ER technicians are not expected to have experience with these forms of equipment since there are other technicians assigned to those responsibilities.
