Drivers should be courteous and friendly and be able to deliver excellent customer service. Drivers must provide a current Driving History printout from the DMV with applying (Valid 30 days from application), must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen test, pass DOJ/FBI background check, and pass physical exam. Applicants must have flexible hours for scheduling.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Drivers are responsible for pre-inspection check on all vehicles driving; making sure all wheelchairs or any other devices are tied down properly; drive clients to and from destinations in a safe manner; must be able to communicate with clients, dispatchers, and supervisors regarding concerns and/or issues.
Education & Training
High school graduate or GED equivalent is preferred but not required. Valid driver’s license with Chauffeurs endorsement (non-CDL), Valid CPR/First Aid card is preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Experience
Experienced driving corporate clients and paratransit vehicles are a plus. Must have a driver’s license for at least five (5) years & one (1) year experience working with the elderly. No more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) at fault accident in the last three (3) years. Applicants must be familiar with using cellular phones, and navigating around areas using a GPS.
Ideal candidates should be self-motivated and responsible, have good communication skills, positive attitude and willing to go the extra mile.
Drivers must be able to work in a fast pace environment. Driver must be able to assist clients getting in and out of vehicle, as well as assist in transferring clients in and out of wheelchairs. Driver must be able to pass the Physical Exam, Lift up to 100 LBS, push and pull up to 200 LBS, bend from the waist, pivot from waist, be able to move from a standing position to kneeling position back to standing.
