We seek an experienced Director of Product Marketing to join a highly collaborative and fast-moving team dedicated to marketing Pearson products that capitalize on market opportunities, meet customer needs and deliver learner outcomes. The Director of Product Marketing reports into the VP Product Marketing and holds accountability for leveraging market and customer insights to inform global product strategy, defining products through positioning and messaging, creating compelling brand assets and shaping strong campaigns for effective selling.

Key Responsibilities

+ Leads product marketing efforts on B2C apps for education; go-to-market capabilities for digital products used by 12M learners each year; and the next-gen platform that will enable the success of Pearson's portfolio.

+ Recruits, retains and develops top Product Marketing talent. Provides stretch goals, invests in skill development, creates a high performance culture and an environment of inspiration and motivation.

+ Develops market insight strategy for the team, and oversees product marketer ability to translate the insight into data-informed definition of value proposition on product enhancements.

+ Partners closely with Directors and VPs of Product Management, internal stakeholders in Global Product, as well as leadership in geography marketing to define optimal marketing plans and messages for new or enhanced products.

+ Delivers insights-based product messaging, defines product audience and develop personas. Translates market insights into tangible learner needs, preferences and messages for the Product category.

+ Leads team in conducting up-to-date competitive analysis and basic SWOT analysis. Synthesizes and transfers knowledge of these insights to country marketing and Product Management.

+ Preserves brand fidelity and delivers a consistent approach to branding and customer experience across all product categories, in all geographies. As needed on new products, contributes to brand development in collaboration with global marketing and product stakeholders.

+ Is accountable for ensuring that the product marketing function serves as a voice of the customer/learner to Product Management and Product Technology.

+ Contributes to the vision for the marketing bill of materials and leads team to execute on assets that drive the success of our products and improved learner outcomes. Collaborates with geography marketing to deliver global marketing plans for products and/or disciplines.

+ Ensures appropriate support to global marketing and geography marketing with respect to sales or marketing campaigns.

+ Leads team in execution of marketing content strategy (web content, collateral, videos, customer testimonials, white papers, etc.) for key products and product categories.

+ Employs modern marketing techniques including empirical evidence, demographic trends and quantitative tools for planning purposes, goal setting and sizing up market opportunities.

+ Applies financial discipline, directing resources to the highest opportunities, measuring marketing ROI, and pivoting when opportunities shift. Key performance indicators include:

Key Requirements

+ Successful experience in the development and execution of marketing plans

+ Familiarity with product and program marketing

+ Experience with marketing communications

+ Strong organizational skills

+ Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, vendors, agencies, authors and customers.

+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent

+ Minimum 6 years product marketing and/or product management experience, including experience managing digital products

Ability to travelas needed for internal and customer events

+ Demonstrated ability to execute successful services marketing and sales strategies

+ First class leadership skills; able to inspire and motivate teams around a continuously evolving agenda designed to delight our customers

+ Ability to balance strategic thinking/long term opportunities with operational focus
